The Doctors

Dr. Bob Marquis Bob Marquis, DVM, Owner of Tiara Rado Animal Hospital
Dr. Bob Marquis graduated from the University Of Missouri School Of Veterinary Medicine in 1978. After moving to Grand Junction in 1980, he started Tiara Rado Animal Hospital in 1983. Strong interests of his include orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery and endoscopy, as well as general practice. He became certified in the use of veterinary stem cells in 2008.

Dr. Marquis and his wife, Burdette, along with their two dogs, Gracie and Enzo, live on Glade Park. They love the outdoors, camping, hiking, fishing, and taking their grandson Cade with them. Dr. Marquis’ son, Zach, is a mountain climber and back country adventurer. He lives in the Crested Butte area.

Dr. Marquis’ other interests include aviation. He is an instrument rated private pilot. He is also a member of Mesa County Search and Rescue Ground Team.

Dr. Frank CoonsFrank Coons, DVM, ABVP
Dr. Frank Coons joined Tiara Rado Animal Hospital in 2003. He brings over 35 years of clinical experience to the practice. Originally from New Mexico where he completed undergraduate requirements at New Mexico State University, he attended veterinary school at Colorado State University. After graduation he completed a clinical internship at Cornell University in upstate New York before establishing a practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, having completed requirements in 1981, and successfully recertifying in 1991, 2001 and 2009. He has a special interest in surgery.

Dr. Coons and his wife, Teresa, have two grown daughters and are enjoying spending time with their first grandchild, Madeline. He enjoys fly fishing, bicycling and hiking the beautiful Colorado Mountains.

Dr. Julie BeckerJulie Becker, DVM
Dr. Julie Becker earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1999. She returned home to Grand Junction and joined the great team at Tiara Rado Animal Hospital. She practiced small animal and emergency medicine with an interest in chemotherapy for three years before moving to Arizona for her husband, Matt, to complete his training as a commercial airline pilot.

After practicing veterinary medicine in Arizona and Michigan, she was so fortunate enough to return home again in 2007 to her family and friends at Tiara Rado Animal Hospital. Her professional interests include ultrasound and ophthalmology. Dr. Becker has practiced emergency medicine at the Veterinary Emergency Center on holidays and enjoys sharing her interests as a guest speaker at school programs.

She and her husband have two wonderful daughters, Annika Rose and Kylie Ann. They love spending time with the girls and grandparents camping, fishing, swimming and having picnics.

Dr. Thad RespetThad Respet, VMD

Dr. Thad Respet is a 2010 University of Pennsylvania graduate. Originally from Pennsylvania, Dr. Respet has lived in Colorado and New Mexico most of his adult life. Dr. Respet graduated from the University of Rochester with a degree in geology and worked in Denver for several years as an exploration geologist before heeding the call of veterinary medicine and changing careers. He moved to the Grand Valley in 2010 after completing his veterinary degree and joined the team at Tiara Rado Animal Hospital fall 2011.

Dr. Respet and his wife Shannon have two children, Jack and Anna, along with a menagerie of animals. They enjoy mountain biking, skiing, hiking and camping. In addition, Dr. Respet spends an excessive amount of time tinkering with things around his property.
