Nationally Known Veterinarian Presents at Local Dog Seminar

Author and Veterinarian Chris Zink Gives Hands-on Training

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (Feb. 7, 2012) – Nationally known author and veterinarian Chris Zink will present a "Canine Structure and Movement Seminar" Feb. 18 and 19, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Clarion Inn, 755 Horizon, Grand Junction.

The two-day seminar focuses on the canine Athlete, how the canine body works and what owners can do to improve the health and performance of their dogs. The seminar is broken up into several segments with lectures followed by demonstrations and discussions including:
• Structure analysis
• Gait analysis
• How to do a lameness exam
• Conditioning and warm-ups for specific activities
• Targeted exercises for specific conditions such as hip dysplasia and back pain
• How structure and function affects a dog's performance when he's active
• How to identify the three most common orthopedic conditions affecting athletic dogs
• Rehabilitating dogs following injury

In addition, on Saturday, February 18, at 6 p.m. Dr. Bob Marquis of Tiara Rado Animal Hospital presents a free lecture to the public discussing lesser-known therapies and treatments, like the use of stem cells, Platelet-Rich Packing, the JPS for hip dysplasia and other non-traditional therapies.

Considered a pioneer in the canine sports and rehabilitation world, Chris Zink is the author of "Peak Performance: Coaching the Canine Athlete," "Jumping A-Z" and "The Agility Advantage." More information about her coaching is available at www.caninesports.com.
